Job Overview 

Sequel Med Tech is looking to fill multiple Full-Stack Software Engineer roles over the next few months (start dates in May, July, and September) as we scale our software product team to support a growing portfolio of digital health products and systems. Our software engineers are digital health utility players, supporting front-end and back-end development for new digital products, partnering with the platform team to deploy cloud infrastructure, and providing a voice of the possible to business partners working to define new capabilities. The ideal candidate for this role will be T-shaped engineer, with depth in one or more disciplines (e.g. front-end, back-end, security, data, mobile) while having the breadth to be able to step in where needed or to collaborate effectively with other team members to avoid technical silos. They will be hands-on and excited to build great patient-, caregiver-, and clinician-facing products to support a rapidly growing medical devices startup. If you value shared ownership and accountability, individual and team empowerment, and a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, then this is the job for you.  

Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties 

Engineer II: 

  • Under the guidance of engineering leadership, develop and maintain high-quality software solutions for Sequel Med Tech's digital products. 
  • Given guidance from the team on business and technical requirements, deliver solutions that meet both business and technical needs. 
  • In collaboration with other engineers, ensure that software is designed and delivered according to best practices and standards. 
  • Adhere to Sequel Software Development Practices to ensure that software is developed and maintained in compliance with regulatory requirements such as HIPAA, GxP, security requirements, GDPR, etc. 
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends and best practices. 
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure that software is delivered on time and meets quality standards. 
  • With support from other engineers, develop automated tests to ensure that software is of high quality and meets all requirements. 

Senior Engineer: 

  • Develop and maintain high-quality software solutions for Sequel Med Tech's digital products. 
  • Collaborate with the product team to understand business requirements, translate them into technical requirements, and deliver solutions that meet both business and technical needs. 
  • Ensure that software is designed and delivered according to best practices and standards. 
  • Adhere to Sequel Software Development Practices to ensure that software is developed and maintained in compliance with regulatory requirements such as HIPAA, GxP, security requirements, GDPR, etc. 
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends and best practices. 
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure that software is delivered on time and meets quality standards. 
  • Develop and maintain automated tests to ensure that software is of high quality and meets all requirements. 

Staff Engineer: 

  • Develop and maintain high-quality and scalable software solutions for Sequel Med Tech's digital products. 
  • Collaborate with the product team to understand business requirements, translate them into technical requirements, and deliver solutions that meet both business and technical needs. 
  • Work closely with other developers to ensure that software is designed and delivered according to best practices and standards. 
  • Build integrations with external systems using APIs, authentication flows, and data transfer strategies. 
  • Adhere to Sequel Software Development Practices to ensure that software is developed and maintained in compliance with regulatory requirements such as HIPAA, GxP, security requirements, GDPR, etc. 
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends and best practices, and make recommendations for improvements to software development processes and tools. 
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure that software is delivered on time, within budget, and meets quality standards. 
  • Develop and maintain automated tests to ensure that software is of high quality and meets all requirements. 

Minimum Requirements 

For all levels:  

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or commensurate experience. 

Engineer II: 

  • 2-5 years of related experience. 

Senior Engineer: 

  • 5+ years of related experience. 

Staff Engineer: 

  • 6+ years of related experience, including at least 1 year in a healthcare or other regulated industry. 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

Engineer II: 

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technology stacks. 
  • Understanding of the concept of test automation and ability to learn tools and approaches. 
  • Exposure to common development tools like Git, Jira, etc. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other software engineers. 
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. 
  • Passion for building great patient-, caregiver-, and clinician-facing products to support a rapidly growing medical device startup. 

Senior Engineer: 

  • Experience with or demonstrated ability to quickly learn Node.js and React.js. 
  • Familiarity with test automation approaches and tools. 
  • Experience with common development tools like Git, Jira, etc. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively and across disciplines with other developers. 
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. 
  • Passion for building great patient-, caregiver-, and clinician-facing products to support a rapidly growing medical device startup. 

Staff Engineer: 

  • Breadth of technology stacks, with particular experience with or demonstrated ability to quickly learn Node.js and React.js. 
  • Familiarity with a variety of test automation approaches and tools. 
  • Experience with common development tools like Git and Jira, and the ability to determine the right set of tools for the job. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively and across disciplines with other developers to design and deliver software to solve patient, clinical, and business needs. 
  • Experience working within a regulated industry – healthcare experience a plus. 
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. 
  • Passion for building great patient-, caregiver-, and clinician-facing products to support a rapidly growing medical device startup.
