Job Overview
Sequel Med Tech is seeking a dedicated and experienced Payroll Manager to lead the transition of our payroll processes in-house and ensure seamless payroll operations. This role will be pivotal in implementing Paylocity, transferring payroll responsibilities from our Professional Employer Organization (PEO) to Sequel’s internal team, and building robust payroll processes. The Payroll Manager will collaborate closely with the Finance department, administer payroll for all Sequel employees, and provide exceptional support to employees regarding payroll-related inquiries
Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties
Paylocity Implementation:
Work with the Director, HR Operations to ensure a smooth transition from the current PEO-managed payroll to Sequel's internal payroll system.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to configure and customize Paylocity according to Sequel’s needs.
Develop and document comprehensive payroll processes, including detailed workflows and procedures.
Payroll Administration:
Oversee and administer payroll processing for all Sequel employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Partner with the Finance department to review and approve payroll before processing.
Manage all payroll-related functions, including incentive compensation, bonus payouts, and termination final payments.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
Employee Support:
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to payroll and PTO
Provide training and guidance to employees on Paylocity features related to payroll processes.
State Registrations:
Work with Paylocity to manage the registration process in new states as Sequel hires employees in new locations, ensuring compliance with state-specific payroll requirements.
Tax Filings
Work with Paylocity to manage all quarterly and year end tax filings for states and federal requirements. File year end W2’s and work with Paylocity to review any issues with tax filings.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to enhance payroll processes and systems, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
Stay current with payroll best practices and regulatory changes to keep Sequel's payroll operations compliant and efficient.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) Preferred
5+ years of experience in payroll management, with hands-on experience in payroll system implementation.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
Experience with Paylocity or similar payroll systems is highly preferred.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Problem-solving mindset with a focus on process improvement.
