Job Overview
The Senior Financial Analyst supports the organization’s financial planning and analysis activities, in partnership with and reporting to the Senior Manager, FP&A. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, gather and analyze financial data, and provide valuable insights to drive informed business decisions.
You will assist with the company’s budgeting and forecasting functions, analyze operating results in terms of costs, budgets, trends, and increased profit opportunities, and work with other departments to provide ongoing financial support and analysis. You will also assist with standardizing departmental processes and financial modeling templates and implementing finance software.
Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties
• Support the preparation and analysis of financial reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data.
• Partner with departmental heads to understand and analyze their financial plans and educate on the FP&A and budgeting process.
• Collaborate with leadership and financial department to foster knowledge sharing and implement continuous improvement practices.
• In partnership with the Senior Manager, FP&A, work to standardize the financial reporting templates.
• Consolidate financial and operational data from various sources and create comprehensive reports to support management in decision-making processes.
• Maintain financial models and forecasts to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
• Conduct in-depth variance analysis, identifying trends and key drivers impacting financial performance, and provide actionable recommendations.
• Assist in the preparation of presentations and materials for executive management and board meetings, providing clear and concise explanations of financial results and key insights.
• Develop, document and maintain function standard work processes and procedures.
• Assist in implementing enterprise and other software systems related to the finance function.
• Support internal SOX audit and external audit requests.
• Coordinate ad-hoc analytics based on business needs.
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree
• 3+ years relevant financial planning and analysis experience in the life sciences
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Advanced Excel skills, including managing large data sets, creating and maintaining financial models, macros, pivot tables and Vlookup.
• Experience using at an expert level Netsuite or another ERP system preferred.
• Experience working with Financial Planning software preferred.
• Experience presenting to executives and department leads
• Ability to synthesize complex financial issues and to communicate them in a clear and concise manner
